Flashback Friday:: A public service announcement

Just wanted to make everyone aware that the clothing industry has decided to bring back zippered jeans. You know, with the zippers at the ankles? You have GOT to be kidding me. Now I know how my Mama felt when capris came back out with full force. The thought "No way would I EVER go back there again" just keeps swirling in my mind. The leggings with the lace at the bottom I can handle...I always thought the "real" dancers in my tap class in college looked so cool in them and I always wanted an excuse to get some. But zippers? What is next? Wearing two socks at once in the "oh I thought I was so cool" black/white, white/black style? Pegging your pants? Do we not remember the issue of standing up and having to do the little dance to get the bottom of the legs to go back down below the calf? I gotta say, I am getting a bit nervous. However, if you are so inclined to go back to a dark (sorry acid washed) time in fashion they are selling them at gap.com

Happy Anniversary

I used to think...what is a blog? In the back of my mind I knew Elizabeth and Katherine had one, but I just didn't pay much attention. I just didn't get it. But then I started my own. One year ago today. My blog has been one of the most helpful tools in my first year of being a Mama. I have been able to record the little things that could have so easily been forgotten. Now I can just go back and read a full account, a list, some comments or see pictures. I have countless journals with one, maybe up to ten entries, but then it stops. I forget about it and think...mmmmhhh I really should write in my journal. Three years could go by without writing down a single thing. But not here. A few days may go by, but then I return with new pictures, new stories, new thoughts, new things that I want to remember about my family. About my life. This blog truly is A Day in the Life of the Taylor trio...and my family, and my now seemingly countless friends. I never in a million years thought I could call someone I have never met a friend, but wow can the internet be an incredible tool for bringing people together. I will have these friends for life.

This blog has somehow changed my life because now I feel like I am actually going to remember so much more about my life. Sure I can look back and think "why didn't I journal more as a kid...why didn't I know about blogs sooner" but it just didn't work that way. However, I hope that Lily will have a richer and more memorable childhood because she will be able to look back and see all the cute and silly and wonderful things she did and saw. I hope that I will rarely have to say that "I don't remember" when you took your first steps (which has not happened yet by the way) or how you felt on your first day of kindergarden, or what it was like to dance with your Daddy for the first time at a wedding...it will be here. On the pages of this journal. My blog. My record of A Day in the Life.

I owe you and some helpful hints.

So Rissa I did see this...just got sidetracked by my craftroom...
1) You have been selected as the next super hero in your city. What power will you choose to have? - I would have the ability to transport myself in an instant to any destination I choose...Ok, so that wouldn't help my city, but I would see my sisters and far away friends WHENEVER I WANTED.
2) Lemon or Lime? - Lemon...don't like lime...
3) How many speeding tickets have you recieved? - None :) (knock on wood)
4) It's last call for alcohol what will you order? - First let me remember the last time I was out that late...nope can't
5) Which video game character would you want to be? - ummmm, none. I don't like the video games.
6) What event do you think has had the most effect on this country?
a) 9-11
b) Iraq War
c) 2000 election of Bush (going with Rissa's answers)
7) What was the street name you lived on the majority of your childhood? Lynwood and Chatwood
8) The name of your first pet? Karla The Best Heinz 57 Ever-no really. That was her full name)
9) Your first grade teacher's last name? Jones
And the final one...
10) What color are your current undergarments? ummmm, I am going to go with my dad reads this...well ok. black cotton. BORING.

And now for some helpful hints from the September issue of Real Simple for two of my readers.
1. dog-bone toothbrush: The Easy Brush has built in bristles and comes with dog tooth paste...although it also says that they still need to get a professional cleaning too.
2. And I quote "Plastic bags caught in trees look trashy." tee hee Rissa :) To prevent this you can get Biobags that are made of corn based starges that naturally degrade (and help the trash in them degrade too)
