we need your help

Bj and I are thinking of starting a new show. We are thinking that we need to spend some time couching it together. But we can't figure out what to watch, so we need your help becoming complete and total vegetables. So what do you think? Our only request is that it must be on DVD. Here are some previous suggestions...

Rome
Sopranos
Battlestar Galactic (ummm, I don't know about this one)
Stargate (or about this one)
24

So I know, we seem like the most boring couple ever, but as we don't have the ability for late night Target runs, this is our idea to get us in the same room instead of an office/craftroom split. So, what do you think?

Oh my...I am addicted to Big Love on HBO. I know it is about a taboo subject, but once you get past the first episode you won't be able to stop watching it. I also really like 24. 24 obviously has far more action. But, I will tell you that I have Justin hooked on Big Love.

yes about big love... matt and i LOVE that show. we have to wait until who knows when until the 2nd season starts up.

rome is wonderful too, and if you can somehow see all of the first season you'll be all set to go when the second season starts up (sometime in 2007?)

and the sopranos is also fantastic. we did the first 3 seasons on DVD from the library, and all the others season by season as they're on.

out of the list, I would go with 24, only be prepared to be hooked. doesn't stop until the last minute. We always find ourselves fighting to stay awake for one more hour. Speaking of, when does season 3 of Grey's start?

Oh, gosh, Six Feet Under. Definitely. The best television show I have ever seen and can ever imagine seeing. I love it.

Dead Like Me from Showtime. Available on DVD. It has a hot chick for BJ and Mandy Patinkin. It's the perfect combo.

See, I'd be all over Battlestar Galactica.
Used to watch the series when I was a kid. Then last winter (we are always atleast half a season behind) I saw that a new version of it was airing. I didn't know what to think, you know the 'why mess with my childhood memories' bit.
But I found it enthralling. So much better than the original, so different. Loved it. Can't wait for season 2.
But then I'm a scifi geek.
I've even watched Stargate.

I might have to check out some of these. I like DVD's... easier on the schedule.
Don watches Desperate and Grey's with me.... not Project Runway though. We need one more night of tv.

We like Numbers, that was on Friday nights. Cute show, funny and smart.

We have Grey's here on DVD. It's fun to go back and watch what you missed the first time around. Also, we're big fans of Everwood, but it's cancelled now...

Scrubs. Every episode has me laughing and sometimes crying.

But it sounds like you're looking for something a little heavier.

I completely agree with Katherine. I was completely hooked on six feet under. And I know you well, and you would be obsessed. I just started watching the 1st season dvd of showtimes 'Weeds', not finished watching, but I liked the first few episodes. My hubba loves Entourage, I'm not sold. And you know I love, love, I mean love The 4400!!

The OC. Not sure how many seasons are out on DVD yet. But it got picked up by Fox for another fall season. it's totally about high school students living in orange county - drama, drama, drama. Really cool music on the soundtrack. It just fills that void in my heart that melrose place left. Oh - Smallville too! It's about clark kent's early years. I have yet to jump on the veronica Mars bandwagon - but might just have to check that out.

You've probably already decided on one of these deserving shows, but I was a fan of the BBC's The Office. Also I would recommend Twin Peaks or Different Strokes. I was totally thrilled some years back when Eight Is Enough was shown on PAX, but don't know if it's out on DVD. (I could come over and act out some scenes. I'm particularly convincing as Nicholas.)

The problem with ROME is that you've only got a season's worth of episodes.

I'd suggest watching BSG. The new season premiers in about a month and a half, so you'd have enough time to get caught up on the miniseries & the first two seasons before the October premier.

SOPRANOS is another great show to get into -- but since it is winding down (only eight more new episodes to air, next spring), it won't be much of a regular thing.

(You could always reassure yourself of Charissa's safety by watching "Homicide: Life on the Street" or "The Wire.")
