Flashback Friday

A flashback of a flashback. Today Cathy reminded me of our deepest darkest family secret. And since I haven't shared any embarrassing pictures of dear Elizabeth recently why not now. Go here for the story :)

Rock pictures

Growing up we had a very odd tradition. Taking a picture on the first and last day of school...on a HUGE rock in our neighbor's yard. What are the odds that the house that I grew up in and the house that I live in now have neighbors with HUGE rocks in their yard? So it may not be the first day of school, but I wanted to get this picture before we moved.

Me circa 1979? (I am assuming that I was there for Elizabeth's photo session on the rock)
Lily circa 2008Once again I am adding strange criteria to our house hunting must haves...1. Target close by 2. Scrapbooking store close by 3. Chick-fil-A close by 4. HUGE rock in neighbors yard ;)

Flashback Friday: Embarassing picture edition

I never in a million years thought I would willingly let this picture come out. But then I had a daughter who seems to look a little like me. What do you think?

Flashback Friday:: Harry edition

I got to see the fifth installment of the Harry Potter movies last night-and yep, I really liked it. As I stood outside with the group of friends discussing the movie and the upcoming book, we felt like a bunch of pre-teens waiting for their parents to come pick them up. I think the consensus is we are excited to read the final book, but sad that it is almost over. It has been a fun run. One that I don't know will ever be repeated. I mean how many books will be so good, cause so much excitement, that they shut down entire towns while they transform every store into a shop from Hogsmeade? What book will cause former non-reading kiddos into devouring 300+ page books?
I remember reading my first Harry book. Elizabeth had come back from Montana for Christmas and I was sitting on the couch of my parent's house waiting for her arrival...while reading "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone."
She walked in the door, and *gasp* I was in the middle of a chapter.
I looked up with a worried look on my face and she said "It's ok, finish your chapter first."
She understood
.
So now begins my wait for book seven. The final one. The countdown is on my computer 7 days 12 hours 46 minutes. And a feeble request to the universe out there that NO ONE talks about the book if they think they KNOW what happens. No spoilers. No hints. I am going to savor this last one to the best of my ability. Because it is the last.

Flashback Friday (you are safe for today Cassie J ;)

Today we are doing a special birthday flashback, just for the birthday boy Bj. These are Bj's first glasses. He got them for his birthday in what I must say is about the best "regift" ever. (He got a gift card from his mom to get new glasses...he really needs new glasses :) Enjoy-I know I did

oh and if you are wondering, yes, one of the lenses is missing...

Flashback Friday:: A public service announcement

Just wanted to make everyone aware that the clothing industry has decided to bring back zippered jeans. You know, with the zippers at the ankles? You have GOT to be kidding me. Now I know how my Mama felt when capris came back out with full force. The thought "No way would I EVER go back there again" just keeps swirling in my mind. The leggings with the lace at the bottom I can handle...I always thought the "real" dancers in my tap class in college looked so cool in them and I always wanted an excuse to get some. But zippers? What is next? Wearing two socks at once in the "oh I thought I was so cool" black/white, white/black style? Pegging your pants? Do we not remember the issue of standing up and having to do the little dance to get the bottom of the legs to go back down below the calf? I gotta say, I am getting a bit nervous. However, if you are so inclined to go back to a dark (sorry acid washed) time in fashion they are selling them at gap.com
