Procrastination

All fixed. Thanks so much for all the emails-I really don't know how I missed it, but things happen I guess.

So I have been thinking a lot about procrastination lately. I admit it, my name is Marie Taylor and I am a procrastinator. Sometimes I have a reason. Sometimes my reason really stinks.

For those of you who are not crazy insane scrapbookers who lurk on blogs of people whom you have never met, or met once and know more about than you do your next door neighbor, Ali Edwards is a mother of a child with autism.

In conjunction with sixdegrees.org (a Kevin Bacon run charity) Ali is raising money in hopes that on March 31 she will have the top "badge" and will have Kevin Bacon donate an additional $10,000 to Autism Speaks. I have been tracking the progress, was excited to see that Mr. Bacon mentioned "an Oregon woman who has raised $15,000" on the Ellen Degeneres Show, and so excited to see that her badge actually is in first place right now.

But I haven't donated. Why? My worst procrastination reason ever. Fear. They don't know what causes Autism. They don't have a cure. It is becoming a more and more serious problem and we don't really know much about it. And so I just don't want to think about it. I don't want to think that it could affect me. I could know someone-actually I do know someone, I could be someone with a child with Autism. It could happen. So I am donating. Now. I urge you to do the same. Just click the badge

yes...i know :(

I just decided to make up a new season...but I really areciate all of the sheeish emails telling me that there is in fact a "p" in spring. I will fix it later today...hay ;) (ok so it doesn't work quite as well when you actually sell a word...)

everyone confused yet?

baby laughter

I have to share this with you all because
1. I can't share it with Bj as I do NOT want another video game system in our house and as soon as he sees this he will say "but what if we can make Lily do this?"
2. Bj never reads my blog
3. It is about the FUNNIEST thing I have ever seen.
*edited-if you can't get to it it is called Wii baby...

19 months

Dear Lily,
You are now 19 months old. I wish I would stop thinking "I can't believe you are already 'blank' months old," but I don't think that is going to end any time soon. You are just growing so fast. Every time I look at you now I don't think baby. I think little girl. You have made some big changes this month-the biggest the ability to eat some foods uncut. WHOO HOO I think. No more cutting up toast every single morning. You prefer to eat it your way. We went to Bob Evans with your grandparents this past Sunday and low and behold you ate a pancake without me cutting it into a thousand pieces. I also believe that when you finally get to see your cousin Maddie and your Uncle Ben you may just give them a run for their money-you ate all five of your child size pancakes.

Your gibberish has also evolved this month. Conversations with, well whoever feels like listening can go on for ten minutes or more. And you know exactly what you are saying...I can't wait until we do. You still say uh-oh about a million times a day, but you have now added saying Mama to your list. Sure you could always say Mama, you just chose not to. Now it is a regular in your repertoire. I just love that.

Your favorite toys lately have been your baby doll which although you kiss on command, when I ask you to give her a hug you put her down on the ground and sign hug (which is actually just hugging yourself) and oh my is it cute. You also have found a love for your Sandra Boynton books-Dog Train, Rhinoceros Tap, and Philadelphia Chicken. You love stacking blocks, talking on the phone, dancing, singing to yourself, reading stories (alone and with Mama), throwing your toys in the trash, playing champion with Mama and Daddy (yeah, thanks for that one E) playing with your fridge farm, and spreading your toys ALL OVER. You have finally gotten the hang of your puzzles, and you enjoy doing them over...and over again.

You are thoroughly enjoying babynastics, your favorite activity being jumping on the trampoline. Again and again-by yourself. No mama help needed. Perhaps you may not learn any actual skills, but at least you will have some strong legs. You definitely have a one track mind for your swing out back and periodically during the day you go to the back door and whimper, wanting to get outside. It will be warmer soon hon.

Another new skill that I am NOT too pleased with is climbing up on your rocking chair, standing up on it and trying to balance. This was the first and last day of that trick-mean mama took away your new toy. Hmmmmphf.

So you definitely have your moments of unhappiness yelling and throwing things, but for the most part you are just the happiest little girl I ever did see and I love you more and more each day.
love, mama

Ten on Tuesday (Wednesday edition)

So too much to do yesterday combined with not getting home from choir until 10:15 means no posting my ToT on the correct day...hope you don't mind.
1. Want some photo inspiration? Go here
2. We REALLY enjoyed yesterday's weather..
3. On our new (used) playsetDon't mind our gross back yard...we have SO much work to do in it. Have I mentioned how much I dislike yard work?
4. Went for a swing
5. Spotted some new flowers popping through
6. Went for two walks around the block...ok, didn't quite make it around the block as Lily walked and didn't ride :)
7. Noticed that the neighbors FINALLY took down their Christmas Lights AND the fountain is almost completely thawed!
8. So now my question is how to get said girl off the swing without a screaming kicking match when it is time for naptime. Mmmmhhh.
9. Today is babynastics!! Good thing as it is supposed to rain all day.
10. 2peas has been down since Monday night. BOO. Come back inspiration! Come back!

Ten on Tuesday

1. Please stop me. I CANNOT stop eating the new Cinnamon Sweet Potato Pringles. They are seriously the best thing EVER. But don't say I didn't warn you.
2. I think I may have finally found something to replace my rainbow lay that I have had hanging from my rear view mirror from the last six years. A Dr Pepper air freshener. And for the record, I only paid $1.99 at Target for mine.
3. Anyone have any patterns for baby leg warmers?
4. So it's March, and what does that mean? Why March madness of course. I believe that I actually WON last year. Go here and here for the story.
5. I went to the dentist today to get a cavity filled. My poor jaw...
6. I just found out that my friend Erin got on a design team for Imagination Project! GO ERIN!
7. I am getting SO excited about the Ben Folds concert that I am going to with Bj, Liz and now Shelly :)
8. So they are supposed to be able to stack three blocks at this time? Huh.
9. Got my tickets today for my California trip that I am taking at the end of April and I am already getting nervous about traveling by myself with Lily. Any tips for a really, really long day of travel and flying into a time zone with a three hour difference?
10. Lily loves Jack's Big Music Show. LOVES it. If you have Noggin I would highly recommend it. You can see a few videos on the Jack page. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Leon Thomas' video of Duck 4. I could seriously listen to this kid ALL DAY.
